Try These 10 Small Things Right Now to Feel Better About Your Life, Your Community, and the World

love happiness
If everyone put forth a little effort towards making the world a better place, it would simply become a better place. If everyone smiled a bit more, opened doors for strangers, and helped keep our outdoor spaces clean, we would live in a brighter and friendlier world.
These little things may not seem like much, but collectively they can change the world. Pick two (or more) to do today and see how your perception of the world around you changes.
You help mold your environment.

Neighbours are asked to smile as part of social experiment in UK communities

http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/aug/10/neighbours-asked-smile-experiment-local-communities?CMP=twt_gu

Do you smile at the people next door, pat their cats and dogs, take out their bins or know their names? If so, you are very much in a minority, as British people have been revealed as a reserved lot who don't know their neighbours.

According to new research, one in 10 UK residents can't name a single one of their neighbours, while less than a fifth of people know the names of even their immediate neighbours. But they would like to: almost two-thirds (65%) of people say their neighbourhood would be a "stronger" and safer place if people were encouraged to get to know each other better.

No affordable houses available in the Borough

No affordable houses available in the Borough

Friday, 18th July 2014

With the London property market enjoying a seemingly endless boom, buying a home has become a distant fantasy for most working Londoners. This is particularly true in Kensington and Chelsea where house prices increased by 14% over just one year (2012-13) and average well over £1million (according towww.rightmove.com).
Now a damning new report shows just how far out of reach home-ownership is for most of us living (and most likely renting) in the capital.
The report, published by the charity Shelter, reveals 99.7% of London homes are unaffordable for first time buyers. Shelter looked at the asking prices of thousands of properties for sale in the capital, on a given day, and compared them to mortgages that are affordable to average first time buyers capable of saving the standard 18% deposit. They found that, across the whole of London, only 86 homeswere affordable to the typical buyer, or 0.3% of houses on the market. READ MORE FROM KC&W Today

1WW The lamps are going out all over Europe

The Times newspaper of the 5th August 1914 gives a sense of the emotion that gripped the country after Britain declared war on Germany on the 4th August. Crowds pack out Central London waiting for the announcement, and the atmosphere is electric: cheering, demonstrations, patriotic singing, and the royal family appears on the balcony of Buckingham … Continue reading

First World War 100 year anniversary. CATS would like to take this opportunity to commemorate all of the soldiers in the 1st World War. A war that these men genuinely believed would be the War to End all Wars. Let's take a few moments today to reflect on this.
