Kensington and Chelsea is the only London borough to register negative population growth since 2001!

An interesting article from The Colliers Residential website shows that there has been a decrease in the population of Kensington and Chelsea since 2001. The article is based on the 2001, 2007 and 2011 census results.

"The latest census data shows that the overall population in London has increased by nearly 14% since 2001. All but one of the 34 London boroughs has increased in population. The greatest increases (around 26% and 29%) were in Newham and Tower Hamlets. Interestingly, Kensington and Chelsea is the only London borough to register negative population growth since 2001.
Kensington and Chelsea has seen a 17% drop in population. The 2001 census data for Kensington and Chelsea shows that the percentage of UK born residents was much higher than the percentage of foreign born residents. In 2001, foreign born residents represented 44% of the total population of Kensington and Chelsea. By 2011, the percentage of foreign born residents increased to 52%."
