Shame we didn't start a few months earlier... have seen a few offers in the evening standard for bulbs but thought maybe too late to plant them by the time we got going so did not buy any.
Also about tables, in Canada we used to pick up the wooden cable holders left by cable companies etc. They have mnay different sizes. I am sure some companies here might give us a few. They make good picnic tables and already have a hole in the centre if you wanted to put a cover just need a small adjustment.
Also bought a box at the design festival with 3 lone bee houses... lone bees to not produce honey but they pollenate plants. You just attach them to side of a building or a tree. They were a bit expensive but could make others just out of wood and also some bird houses.
I have also purchased ( made a donation) a bee saving kit form 'Friends of the Earth. Thye have a bee saving campaign on now ... they send you wildfllower seeds that attract bees, a bee guide , bee id and a garden planter. We just need to get the seeds in by the end of October.
