Save The Cremorne: Consequences
At various points during our campaign we have found ourselves explaining to our residents and neighbours the consequences of any redevelopment, or regeneration, of the Cremorne Estate.
To eliminate all doubt lets be clear: the consequences of any redevelopment are determined by Council policy. At the time of writing the Council's policy is perfectly straightforward.
Council leaseholders will be "bought out" (potentially compulsory purchased) and have neither the right, nor in many cases the means, to be rehoused in the local area.
This is what we faced and why we fought and continue to fight. Our community is precious and we will not allow it to be harmed or destroyed in this manner.

Chelsea Flea market and tabletop sale proves a great success!
The rain held off for our first Chelsea Flea market and table top sale. All 11 tables were booked and there were loads of bargains to be had. Dorinda and Barbara arranged the day which was a real success. The garden is in full bloom now and proved a remarkable backdrop to the day. Annalisa baked a delicious chocolate cake and Dorinda and Chris sold lots of their artists cards. Lots of tenants attended and representatives from Markham Street Residents association and Affinity Sutton which made it a wonderful community day. The next one will be on the 16th August from 10.00am to 2pm. Hope to see you all there!

CATS FACTS FRIDAY Are all the people who live in Chelsea well off?
CATS FACTS FRIDAY taken from London Poverty Profile
RBKC is London in microcosm. It has the second highest average income in London, of £36,000. However, this prosperity is not shared equally, and the borough also contains above average levels of deprivation. This deprivation is almost exclusively concentrated in the north of the borough, with the five northerly boroughs of Norland, Colville, St. Charles Notting Barns and Golbourne each including at least one 'Lower Super Output Area' in the 20% most deprived in the country. Golbourne is the 8th most deprived ward in London, out of 627. Earl’s Court, Redcliffe and Cremome also include areas of disadvantage.

Kensington and Chelsea is the only London borough to register negative population growth since 2001!
"The latest census data shows that the overall population in London has increased by nearly 14% since 2001. All but one of the 34 London boroughs has increased in population. The greatest increases (around 26% and 29%) were in Newham and Tower Hamlets. Interestingly, Kensington and Chelsea is the only London borough to register negative population growth since 2001.
Kensington and Chelsea has seen a 17% drop in population. The 2001 census data for Kensington and Chelsea shows that the percentage of UK born residents was much higher than the percentage of foreign born residents. In 2001, foreign born residents represented 44% of the total population of Kensington and Chelsea. By 2011, the percentage of foreign born residents increased to 52%."

A very big Thank you to The Queens Head Chelsea!
Freddy (The QueensHead Manager) came to the Chelsea Flea Market & Tabletop Sale on Sunday and was very impressed with how the garden is looking and the effect it is having on our community, he decided to donate some of the Queens Heads old picnic tables to our Sunken Garden!! Many thanks to Freddy and Hadi for waking up at an ungodly hour on Saturday morning and getting the four tables off the roof, the Gardener at St Lukes Church for loaning us their trolley, and to Chris and Dolly for wheeling them back to the garden. Also a big thank you to Nicky and Maxine for the fabulous big pots now brimming with Begonias!

SAVE EARLS COURT EXHIBITION CENTRE
London’s biggest development project, Earls Court, could be under threat after local elections brought opponents of the scheme to power.
Labour has now taken over the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham (LBHF). The party had voiced objections to the scheme in the run-up to the election, which would see the demolition of Earls Court exhibition centre. More
