Choir and orchestra combine for a joyful blend of carols marking one of history’s most symbolic events of peace and humanity: the ceasefire of Christmas Eve 1914 across the Western Front. Based on real events from 100 years ago, and incorporating scenes from an original new play by Rufus Stilgoe, this is a celebratory and uplifting evocation of Christmas for all ages. With over 20 children’s book artists invited (including Quentin Blake, the festival's beloved patron) and more than 50 events on the programme, the Institut français aims to make the festival’s 17th edition a key rendezvous for schools and families in the London area. St Cuthbert with St Matthias Church, 51 Philbeach Gardens, London SW5 9EB Childhood Memories Saturday 8 Novembver at St Cuthbert with St Matthias Church SW5 To commemorate this important year; the centenary of the start of the First World War and the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landing, this is a performance of a series of monologues, based on memories of childhood during WWII, with drama, music and poetry. Presented by the Earl’s Court Community Trust in association with the Finborough Theatre and performed by The Earl’s Courtiers with New Horizon’s Chelsea Belles & Beaux choir and St Cuthbert with St Matthias school choir. Baltic Music Festival 2nd - 9th November

A week-long festival of concerts at London venues celebrating Baltic music and musicians based in the capital. Music from the three states is inspired by folk and runo song often using traditional instruments. This festival will show how contemporary music has adapted to, and was influenced by, classical forms. Music from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia including composers Vaclovas Augustinas, Zita Bružaitė, Vidmantas Bartulis, Bronius Kutavičius, Pēteris Vasks and Avo Pärt. Find the festival programme here. However, he quickly discovers he has three days to find a wife and is then introduced to Katherine...Never one to turn down a challenge, he vows to woo her, but is this one challenge to too far? Now in its sixth year, Intermission Youth Theatre works with young people at risk of offending, ex-offenders, those lacking opportunities and young aspiring actors. Taking the form of drama workshops, Shakespeare’s plays are worked and re-worked to bring forth themes and issues relevant in our world today.
